When Jesus Was A Brown-Eyed Brunette Book Review

When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed Brunette, the book was about as unique as the title sounds. While it wasn't a bad book I wouldn't have said it was awesome either. It is a book about the authors life and his journey through his teenage years and earlier adult life. While I believe everything he said was true, at least in his own mind, some if it was just a bit “out there” for me. That being said, I believe this author has done a lot of wonderful things.

Parenting 14 Gospel Principles Book Review

Parenting 14 Gospel Principles is an amazing book packed full of all kinds of really good parenting advise! It was enjoyable to read and at times quite convicting. While I didn't always agree 100% with his theology, the parenting advise is most helpful.

Here are just two little quotes from the book to help capture your interest....

“What gets in the way of good parenting is not the the character if of your child. What gets in the way of parenting is one thing: the character of the parent.”

“Teaching and modeling the protective beauty of authority is one of the foundations of good parenting.”

One of the very handy things about this book is that in the back there is a topical index. If you are wanting to just look up something specific to a certain problem you are having or a question, you can look there for a quick reference.

You can like or comment on any social media post to be entered into a giveaway for a copy of your own. I will end the giveaway Oct. 27th at midnight. :)

The Biggest Story

This DVD/CD combination was interesting for sure. While it says it is for kids, I really didn't feel like it was at all. Not younger kids at least. The graphics are kind of "odd" and the story line more adult geared.  That being said, I think the author did a great job capturing the "key points" of the Bible and redemption story.
It did start out, "Once upon a time" which kind of caught me of guard because we normally think of that phrase being used with make-believe stories. I don't think the author was implying that at all here in this setting though!
Over all a great learning tool, especially when introducing the Bible  and Salvation story to someone!  You can enter to win your own copy by "liking"  or commenting on any of my social media posts. I will pick a winner by Aug.26th! Thanks for reading. :)

I Love You Just Because - Book Review

You will love this cute book about a family of bears! However, they are not your ordinary bear family! This family has 3 different kinds of bear cubs, a polar bear, a brown bear, and panda bear. It is a rhyming book that teaches how each cub is loved for who they are and their uniqueness. It also has scripture verses throughout that tell how much God loves them! By the end of the story your child will know they are loved by you (the parent) and God..... Just Because!

This book has those great thick cardboard type pages, so it great for little ones to look at all by themselves. You don't have to worry about the pages getting ripped, etc.!

You can enter a giveaway to win your own copy by commenting on any social media post. :) I will pick a winner on Monday, August 1st. I can not believe we are already to that time  of year where summer is almost over!

All Things Bright and Beautiful - Book Review

"All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all."

An artist from England named, Katy Hudson, took this sweet song and made a wonderfully illustrated kids book out of it. It is big and the 32 pages of  pictures are full of color and creatures! It is geared for ages 4-11 but my 17 month old twin girls and 3 year old boy love looking at it. It's really sweet.
I am so glad I got to review it and do a giveaway here on my blog. You'd love this book too! Comment on any social media post sharing this review to be entered or here on this blog post. I will pick a winner in 4 days.

The Life We Never Expected - Book Review

What an amazing book.... A book written by a couple who have two special needs kids. They open up about their personal trials, share wonderful spiritual in-site and growth, and also try to show the “lighter” side in very trying situations.

This book will be an encouragement and blessing to any parent, special needs children or not. Their perspective is amazing and you will walk away from this book a better person. They have this wonderful comparison of being the parent of a special needs child is like being given an orange.... You may say, “What?” If you read the book you'll find out. :)

The husband and wife take turns writing each chapter and then the book concludes with a question and answer chapter. All questions a person without a special needs child may ask a parent who has one.

HERE is the link to the book on Amazon if you would wish to purchase one. I also am giving a copy away. Like or comment on my blog post or any social media post to be entered into the drawing. The giveaway will end   Tuesday, July 13th at 3:00pm.

Bible Bells' Adventure of Rooney Cruz is an awesome children's series on 5  superhero women from the Bible. They are action packed and full of lots of bright captivating pictures. The book I got to review as about Esther and is one of the best kid versions I've read or heard.

I hope to get all of them for our girls when they get old enough because they make the story come alive and lots of fun! If you have girls I would highly recommend them. Girls need superheros too. :)

You can check out their website HERE . It has all kinds of good stuff!

Children of God CD Review

If you are a huge Phil Whickham fan you will love this new Cd. While it is not personally my favorite style ~ it makes good house cleaning music. I like it in the background when I'm doing something that I'm not going to be focused on the lyrics but want some motivational music. :)

There were a few favorites of of the CD for me and they include, Children of God, Doxology, and Spirit of God. This album was made right after Phil had vocal surgery and healed in an amazingly fast manner!

What an outstanding book! It is packed full of wonderful truths and guidance. If you are a fan of this author's book, Love and Respect, this book is no let down for sure! You feel like with every page you turn you learn something new or see a new few of the “Mother & Son” respect affect.

I particularly loved the G.U.I.D.E.S. acronym the author gives in one of the first chapters in the book. It really spoke to me and is easy to remember. I am sure I will be rereading this book many times in the years to come as my son transitions through the different stages of growing up!

~ Guest Post By My Husband, Michael Evans!~

“Hey Dude, Wise Up!” I've heard that phrase many times from my older two brothers all my life. They always found the most opportunistic times to “give me words of wisdom”. Like when that girl broke up with me and left be heartbroken but still convinced that she was “the one”. Another time when I misspoke during a family holiday and made my one and only sister mad. During those times I did not understand what my older brothers were trying to do or say. I was blind to the fact they they had been there and done that. If I had any sense in my head I would perk my ears up and glean from their experience and words of wisdom.

This is exactly what this book is about. Kent Evans does an amazing job at getting the message across that we as men need to swallow our pride, and even sometimes arrogance, shut our mouth, open our ears and listen to the wisdom from the men who have been there and done that. Wise Guys is a much needed book for men from young to old. We men need each other even though at times that is hard to admit. It is so easy to be independent and think that we know it all. Kent Evans hits the sweet spot that I believe men in the church need to hear. So guys, listen up and unlock the hidden wisdom from the men around you.

8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids

What a great book stuffed full of awesome parenting tips. It is nothing profound or probably anything you haven't already heard but it is a fresh view of the basics! I personally found the second  half of the  book more challenging and enlightening than the first. I think maybe that is because the tools addressed in that part of the book are the ones I need to work on the most as a parent.

Each of the chapters are SHORT! You can read one literally in just a couple of minutes. This is wonderful for busy parents. Each one has it's own thoughts so it is not necessary to read several to get the complete thought.

This book would be great in your library to use as a quick reference when you needed a fresh outlook on a parenting problem or just wanted a quick "refresher course" to put things in perspective. You can purchase a copy for yourself over at

www.moodypublishers.com

and with the promo code

GREATKIDS16

you can get it for 50% off until May 15, 2016.
