A Perfect Pet for Peyton

A Perfect Pet for Peyton is an amazing children's book by Gary Chapman, the Author of, The 5 Love Languages. It is a story about two twins, Peyton and Penny. On their birthday they go to the "Perfect Pet Pal Emporium" to pick out their perfect pet. The book is all about their day's adventures. The author uses those adventures and the different animals they see to teach Peyton and Penny about the 5 basic love languages {Gifts, Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Physical Touch, and Acts of Service}.

The book is full of colorful pictures and words, also, throughout the book are tons of interactive things to do with the child you are reading too. In the back of the book he goes over the  5 love languages and  gives questions you can ask to help your child discover their love language. I really enjoyed reading this book and think you will too.

The Lucado Inspirational Reader

What an amazing book! Every page was full of challenges and encouragement. The Lucado Inspirational Reader was composed of little excerpts taken from several of his books. For example, one chapter is called, Compassion, and he takes highlights from his other books that talk about this subject to make up that chapter.

Some of the other topics mentioned in this book are Salvation, Spiritual Refreshment, Worship, Grace, and the Cross. I think it is a book that should be in every body’s personal library. It makes a wonderful devotional book!

Two of my favorite chapters were Comfort, and The Cross. In the first one he does an outstanding job on talking about grief, facing out grief, and how God is our ultimate comfort. He also stresses the fact that God know how we feel.

In the chapter about the Cross, it is almost as if he puts you there, and brings out that is was His devotion to us that nailed him to the tree.

“So call it what you wish: An act of grace. A plan of redemption. A martyr’s sacrifice. But whatever you call it, don’t call it an accident. It was anything but that.”

Even though I do not agree with Lucado on every doctrinal issue, I believe his writings have great value and many things can be learned from him.
