ESV Men's Devotional Bible Review

My sweet husband is doing a guest blog post for me! Enjoy. :)

    First of all I was not sure what to expect when my wife approached me about doing a review for the ESV Men's Devotional Bible. So my first question was what is the ESV Men's Devotional Bible? Well guess what....it's a Bible! But it is so much more than just a Bible. When I received my copy in the mail the first thing I noticed was how classy the outside cover looked. As I opened its pages I was instantly drawn to a passage of Scripture in Luke chapter 2 where it was talking about the birth of Jesus. As I read that passage, I then noticed that on the opposite side of the page was a devotional titled Unexpected Revolution by Jared C. Wilson. As I read that devotional, my heart was challenged to find joy even in unexpected circumstances.

The ESV Men's Devotional Bible is full of great devotionals and incredible insight from great men such as Sam Storms, Tom Nelson, and J.J Seid just to name a few. The Articles and Resources in the back is an amazing resource and easy to navigate. I would highly recommend the ESV Men's Devotional Bible to any man who desires to grow in Christ. So guys if your looking for a great devotional Bible with easy to access articles that range from leadership, joy, your calling, or even the local church, this is the devotional Bible for you!

The 5 Love Languages for Men

    “When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…That's amore....” Love and pizza, well to be honest that sounds pretty good to me! Speaking of love and pizza, go ahead... order your favorite kind of pizza, sit back, and read this book with your wife. Once you start reading you will not be able to put this book down!

      The 5 Love Languages for Men, is an incredible guide to really understanding how to love your wife. From the front cover, to the last page, this book is an exciting and easy to understand guide about how to love your spouse the way that they “understand”. Dr. Chapman breaks down each love language separately and helps the reader comprehend that with a little effort and knowledge any marriage is able to thrive if both spouses learn how to recognize, understand, and communicate each others love language.

     I would highly recommend this book to everyone! If you’re frustrated with feeling like you and your spouse are on separate pages and are speaking a different dialect, then read this book and learn how to speak the language of love to your spouse.

TEAM US: Marriage Together was a very enjoyable book to read. If you are looking from some in-depth, serious marriage book then this is not for you. If you are looking for one to pick up, find easy to read, and one that reinforces some basic principles you'll love it!

The one aspect of the book I liked was at the end of each chapter is a list of questions you or you and your spouse can go over together. They are all dealing with things that were talked about in the chapter you just read. The author is very open and honest. A lot of the stories in the book are examples from her personal marriage. She has a few “guest” stories but it is largely what they have experienced first hand.

     Looking for something different from your regular devotional book? This is a pretty cool one that will also focus on one of the most important things in your life, your marriage. It's not a deep theological one but a very practical down to earth one! I really enjoyed reading it and plan on reading it again when I can take more time and work through it more thoroughly.
     The book is a 5 week devotional with a different focus for each week. Some of the topics covered are deepening desire, increasing intimacy, fostering faith, etc.  You can win a copy by leaving a comment under any giveaway post you see.        What an interesting marriage book. It is totally different from any other I have read. Most books Christian marriage books will touch some on the topic of how your personal relationship with God affects your marriage, but that is all the focus of this whole book. 
      Gary Thomas is an excellent writer and keeps your attention very well. It is a book every married couple should have in their library.      What an incredible book by an amazing author. I have read his other book, The 5 Love Languages   also and these two books are in my top favorites when it come to relationship advice. Even if you have a great marriage this book will help you to keep it that way or even to improve it too. It is a very easy read, but packed full of simple, wonderful advice and a little humor too.:)
