This is Hillsong's newest kids DVDs. I just honestly wasn't all that impressed with it. My kids didn't like it at all and I didn't think the way that the menu and graphics were set up made it easy to operate. I think it may have been geared towards older kids, and maybe they would enjoy it more!

The Star DVD
This is seriously the cutest movie and best of all it tells the story of Jesus birth. I love that it tells the story from the perspectives of the animal. While we don't really know what the animals thought, I believe if we could have seen it from their eyes, this is what we would see.
The DVD has an awesome children's Bible study by Devon Franklin as well as many other bonus features! I will include a couple of links where you can find out more information about this movie. I am sure it will become a yearly tradition in our house to watch it. Our kids loved it!!

Once Upon A Time Bible & Story Book Review
The Once Upon A Time Bible and the Once Upon A Time Book are so adorable!! The Bible is good if you have an older, maybe pre-teen, early teens, girl. The colorful pages with pictures spread through out the Bible are very well done and would help to hold their attention. It kind of reminded me of The Sea Side Bible if any of you are familiar with that. Only this one is girly. :)
I personally loved the story book better, but I think that is just because it applies more the my children age wise. It is extremely well done with lovely pictures and each story is short. I especially thought the little recaps at the end of each story to be a huge plus!! Both are very nice hard cover, which I think is wonderful.
I have included links where you can check these books out and purchase them if you want a copy! I highly recommend them if you have a girl or girls. :)

When Jesus Was A Brown-Eyed Brunette Book Review
When Jesus Was a Green-Eyed
Brunette, the book was about
as unique as the title sounds. While it wasn't a bad book I wouldn't
have said it was awesome either. It is a book about the authors life
and his journey through his teenage years and earlier adult life.
While I believe everything he said was true, at least in his own
mind, some if it was just a bit “out there” for me. That being
said, I believe this author has done a lot of wonderful things.

Parenting 14 Gospel Principles Book Review
Parenting
14 Gospel Principles is an amazing book packed full of all
kinds of really good parenting advise! It was enjoyable to read and
at times quite convicting. While I didn't always agree 100% with his
theology, the parenting advise is most helpful.
Here
are just two little quotes from the book to help capture your
interest....
“What
gets in the way of good parenting is not the the character if of
your child. What gets in the way of parenting is one thing: the
character of the parent.”
“Teaching
and modeling the protective beauty of authority is one of the
foundations of good parenting.”
One
of the very handy things about this book is that in the back there is
a topical index. If you are wanting to just look up something
specific to a certain problem you are having or a question, you can
look there for a quick reference.
You
can like or comment on any social media post to be entered into a
giveaway for a copy of your own. I will end the giveaway Oct. 27th
at midnight. :)

The Biggest Story
This DVD/CD combination was interesting for sure. While it says it is for kids, I really didn't feel like it was at all. Not younger kids at least. The graphics are kind of "odd" and the story line more adult geared. That being said, I think the author did a great job capturing the "key points" of the Bible and redemption story.
It did start out, "Once upon a time" which kind of caught me of guard because we normally think of that phrase being used with make-believe stories. I don't think the author was implying that at all here in this setting though!
Over all a great learning tool, especially when introducing the Bible and Salvation story to someone! You can enter to win your own copy by "liking" or commenting on any of my social media posts. I will pick a winner by Aug.26th! Thanks for reading. :)

The Life We Never Expected - Book Review
What an amazing book.... A book
written by a couple who have two special needs kids. They open up
about their personal trials, share wonderful spiritual in-site and
growth, and also try to show the “lighter” side in very trying
situations.
This book will be an encouragement and
blessing to any parent, special needs children or not. Their
perspective is amazing and you will walk away from this book a better
person. They have this wonderful comparison of being the parent of a
special needs child is like being given an orange.... You may say,
“What?” If you read the book you'll find out. :)
The husband and wife take turns writing
each chapter and then the book concludes with a question and answer
chapter. All questions a person without a special needs child may
ask a parent who has one.
HERE is the link to the book on Amazon if you would wish to purchase one. I also am giving a copy away. Like or comment on my blog post or any social media post to be entered into the drawing. The giveaway will end Tuesday, July 13th at 3:00pm.

Bible Bells' Adventure of Rooney Cruz is an awesome children's series on 5 superhero women from the Bible. They are action packed and full of lots of bright captivating pictures. The book I got to review as about Esther and is one of the best kid versions I've read or heard.
I hope to get all of them for our girls when they get old enough because they make the story come alive and lots of fun! If you have girls I would highly recommend them. Girls need superheros too. :)

Children of God CD Review
If you are a huge Phil Whickham fan you will love this new Cd. While it is not personally my favorite style ~ it makes good house cleaning music. I like it in the background when I'm doing something that I'm not going to be focused on the lyrics but want some motivational music. :)
There were a few favorites of of the CD for me and they include, Children of God, Doxology, and Spirit of God. This album was made right after Phil had vocal surgery and healed in an amazingly fast manner!

What an outstanding book! It is packed
full of wonderful truths and guidance. If you are a fan of this
author's book, Love and Respect, this book is no let
down for sure! You feel like with every page you turn you learn
something new or see a new few of the “Mother & Son” respect
affect.
I particularly loved the
G.U.I.D.E.S. acronym the author gives in one of the first chapters
in the book. It really spoke to me and is easy to remember. I am sure
I will be rereading this book many times in the years to come as my
son transitions through the different stages of growing up!

~ Guest Post By My Husband, Michael Evans!~
“Hey Dude, Wise Up!” I've heard
that phrase many times from my older two brothers all my life. They
always found the most opportunistic times to “give me words of
wisdom”. Like when that girl broke up with me and left be
heartbroken but still convinced that she was “the one”. Another
time when I misspoke during a family holiday and made my one and only
sister mad. During those times I did not understand what my older
brothers were trying to do or say. I was blind to the fact they they
had been there and done that. If I had any sense in my head I would
perk my ears up and glean from their experience and words of wisdom.
This is exactly what this book is
about. Kent Evans does an amazing job at getting the message across
that we as men need to swallow our pride, and even sometimes
arrogance, shut our mouth, open our ears and listen to the wisdom
from the men who have been there and done that. Wise Guys is a much
needed book for men from young to old. We men need each other even
though at times that is hard to admit. It is so easy to be
independent and think that we know it all. Kent Evans hits the sweet
spot that I believe men in the church need to hear. So guys, listen
up and unlock the hidden wisdom from the men around you.

8 Simple Tools for Raising Great Kids
What a great book stuffed full of awesome parenting tips. It is nothing profound or probably anything you haven't already heard but it is a fresh view of the basics! I personally found the second half of the book more challenging and enlightening than the first. I think maybe that is because the tools addressed in that part of the book are the ones I need to work on the most as a parent.
Each of the chapters are SHORT! You can read one literally in just a couple of minutes. This is wonderful for busy parents. Each one has it's own thoughts so it is not necessary to read several to get the complete thought.
This book would be great in your library to use as a quick reference when you needed a fresh outlook on a parenting problem or just wanted a quick "refresher course" to put things in perspective. You can purchase a copy for yourself over at
www.moodypublishers.com
and with the promo code
GREATKIDS16
you can get it for 50% off until May 15, 2016.

ESV Men's Devotional Bible Review
My sweet husband is doing a guest blog post for me! Enjoy. :)
My husband will be doing a giveaway on his Twitter @michaelaaron56 so be sure to follow him to catch the giveaway!
First of all I was not sure what to
expect when my wife approached me about doing a review for the ESV
Men's Devotional Bible. So my first question was what is the ESV
Men's Devotional Bible? Well guess what....it's a Bible! But it is so
much more than just a Bible. When I received my copy in the mail the
first thing I noticed was how classy the outside cover looked. As I
opened its pages I was instantly drawn to a passage of Scripture in
Luke chapter 2 where it was talking about the birth of Jesus. As I
read that passage, I then noticed that on the opposite side of the
page was a devotional titled Unexpected Revolution by Jared C.
Wilson. As I read that devotional, my heart was challenged to find
joy even in unexpected circumstances.
The ESV Men's Devotional Bible is
full of great devotionals and incredible insight from great men such
as Sam Storms, Tom Nelson, and J.J Seid just to name a few. The
Articles and Resources in the back is an amazing resource and easy to
navigate. I would highly recommend the ESV Men's Devotional Bible to
any man who desires to grow in Christ. So guys if your looking for a
great devotional Bible with easy to access articles that range from
leadership, joy, your calling, or even the local church, this is the
devotional Bible for you!

The 5 Love
Languages for Men
“When
the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie…That's amore....”
Love and pizza, well to be honest that sounds pretty good to me!
Speaking of love and pizza, go ahead... order your favorite kind of
pizza, sit back, and read this book with your wife. Once you start
reading you will not be able to put this book down!
The 5 Love
Languages for Men, is an incredible guide to
really understanding how to love your wife. From the front cover, to
the last page, this book is an exciting and easy to understand guide
about how to love your spouse the way that they “understand”. Dr.
Chapman breaks down each love language separately and helps the
reader comprehend that with a little effort and knowledge any
marriage is able to thrive if both spouses learn how to recognize,
understand, and communicate each others love language.
I would highly
recommend this book to everyone! If you’re frustrated with feeling
like you and your spouse are on separate pages and are speaking a
different dialect, then read this book and learn how to speak the
language of love to your spouse.

TEAM
US: Marriage Together
was a very enjoyable book to read. If you are looking from some
in-depth, serious marriage book then this is not for you. If you are
looking for one to pick up, find easy to read, and one that
reinforces some basic principles you'll love it!
The
one aspect of the book I liked was at the end of each chapter is a
list of questions you or you and your spouse can go over together.
They are all dealing with things that were talked about in the
chapter you just read. The author is very open and honest. A lot of
the stories in the book are examples from her personal marriage. She
has a few “guest” stories but it is largely what they have
experienced first hand.
I
am glad I got to review the book and add it to our collection! I have
a copy to give away as well. Just leave a comment here on the blog or
any Facebook giveaway post and be added into the drawing for your own
free copy. A winner will be picked February 2,1015 10:00 pm.
